In what could be described as a landmark judgment, the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has upheld the victory of Senator Ademola Adeleke in the governorship election in Osun State.

Recall that following the election, an Election Petition Tribunal had nullified Adeleke’s victory and declared Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the polls. The tribunal held that Adeleke did not score the majority of lawful votes during the election.

However, in a unanimous decision on Friday, a three-man panel led by Justice Mohammed Shuaibu quashed the tribunal’s judgment and upheld Adeleke as the rightful governor of Osun State.
