Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court in Lagos has granted an order sought by the Labour Party (LP) to bar the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from using the Chairman of the Lagos Parks and Garages, Musliu Akinsanya, better known as MC Oluomo, to distribute election materials in Lagos.

The LP, alongside five persons, approached the court seeking the order to prevent MC Oluomo from participating in the distribution of electoral materials.

Their concerns were centered around his alleged association with political violence and thuggery.

The order sought by the LP was to restrain INEC “from taking any steps or further steps whatsoever in furtherance of the engagement or appointment or consummating the appointment of Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo-led Lagos State Parks Management Committee or any of its commercial bus drivers to distribute 2023 election materials and personnel in Lagos State, pending the hearing and determination the substantive suit.”

Granting the order, Justice Aneke noted the exparte application moved by the counsel to the LP and deemed it necessary to grant the restraining order.

This order will remain in effect until the hearing and determination of the substantive suit.
