Court summons Oluwo of Iwo over alleged assault

An Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court in Osun has ordered the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, to appear in court for alleged assault.

Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara, ruling in an ex-parte application on Friday, ordered the police to put the traditional ruler on notice before date would be fixed for hearing of the case.

Prosecuting counsel, Soji Oyetayo, filed the motion ex-parte before the court.

The Oluwo is accused of assaulting another monarch, Agbowu of Ogbaagba, Oba Dhikrulahi Akinropo, during a peace meeting on February 14.

The meeting, convened by an Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of zone 11, Bashir Makama, was to settle a land tussle in Iwo land between the monarchs.
