Dangote Group has dismissed reports circulating on social media and online platforms that linked it to a truck involved in a recent accident at Akungba-Akoko, in the Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the company made it clear that the truck allegedly involved in the tragic incident does not belong to Dangote Group or any of its subsidiaries.

“Dangote Group wishes to categorically state that the truck involved in the unfortunate incident is not owned or operated by the company or any of its affiliates,” the statement read.

Okay News reports that the firm further explained that verified vehicle registration records confirmed that the truck, with registration number JJJ 365 XB, is owned by an independent logistics company with no connection whatsoever to Dangote Group.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the truck was not conveying any Dangote products. It was transporting crushed stones in reused sacks bearing different brand names,” the company clarified.

The statement also emphasized Dangote Industries’ commitment to maintaining a robust and transparent vehicle management system. It noted that all genuine Dangote trucks are easily identifiable through proper branding, fleet numbers, and GPS tracking systems.

“Dangote trucks are operated only by trained drivers under strict safety and compliance regulations. Each vehicle carries distinct company markings and identification codes that make them easily recognizable,” the company added.

While expressing sympathy to the victims of the Akungba-Akoko accident, Dangote Group appealed to the public and the media to verify ownership details before attributing such incidents to the company.

“We deeply sympathize with everyone affected by this unfortunate event. However, we urge the media and the public to confirm facts before publishing or circulating misleading information,” the company appealed.

It also advised media organizations to desist from using images of Dangote-branded trucks in stories about unrelated road accidents.

Dangote Industries reaffirmed its dedication to promoting road safety, adhering to transport regulations, and upholding its corporate responsibility standards within and outside Nigeria.
