Akure, Nigeria: The President of the Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, presented plans to develop a large-scale industrial and free trade zone at Olokola in the Ilaje Local Government Area to the Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, on Monday, June 15, 2026.
Okay News reports that Dangote outlined a renewed investment framework covering power generation, cement production, gas infrastructure and industrial manufacturing.
He stated the proposed project would operate as a fully equipped hub to provide basic utilities and logistics to manufacturers without delays.
“We want to create the biggest free trade zone where investors can just come and plug in. We will generate power, provide infrastructure and remove the bottlenecks around doing business,” Dangote said.
The facility will integrate a dedicated energy supply and an east-west gas corridor to support energy-intensive industries and address the national power deficit of Nigeria.
Aiyedatiwa received the proposal in his office, citing the location’s proximity to the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the state’s deep seaport licence, which permits the handling of large vessels without trans-shipment.
He stated the Ondo State Government would work alongside investors and host communities to implement the operational frameworks.
“The limestone deposits in the state have been tested and found suitable for industrial use, signalling potential for cement production expansion. A technical committee had been established to engage with Dangote Group on legal, land, community and operational frameworks, and we are ready to nominate a state representative to the project board,” Aiyedatiwa said.
