Dangote Petroleum Refinery has introduced a nationwide hotline to allow Nigerians report any MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling station selling premium motor spirit (PMS) above the approved pump price of ₦739 per litre, as part of efforts to protect consumers and enforce fair pricing in the downstream petroleum market.

Okay News reports that the dedicated hotline, 0800 123 5264, is now active across the country and is intended to give motorists and fuel buyers a direct channel to flag violations at MRS outlets, which number over 2,000 nationwide.

The move follows the refinery’s recent rollout of nationwide petrol sales at ₦739 per litre, a pricing intervention aimed at cushioning Nigerians against high fuel costs during the festive season and stabilising the local fuel market.

In a statement, the refinery said the hotline reflects its broader commitment to transparency, affordability, and consumer protection.

“We encourage Nigerians to avoid purchasing PMS at inflated prices when locally refined fuel is available at ₦739 per litre,” the refinery said.

“Report any MRS station selling above this price by calling our hotline. Together, we can ensure that the benefits of this price reduction reach every consumer.”

The company reaffirmed that the price reduction is supported by a guaranteed daily supply of 50 million litres, a volume it said is sufficient to meet demand and discourage shortages.

Dangote Refinery also warned against attempts by marketers or middlemen to undermine the price cut through artificial scarcity or supply manipulation, describing such actions as harmful to national interest.

“Any attempt to create artificial scarcity or manipulate supply to frustrate recent price reductions is unpatriotic and unacceptable,” the statement said.

“We urge regulatory authorities to remain vigilant and take firm action against such practices, especially during this critical festive period.”

According to the refinery, local refining at scale is already helping Nigeria reduce its reliance on imported fuel, conserve foreign exchange, support naira stability, and strengthen the country’s energy security.

Consumers were again advised to resist buying petrol at inflated rates when cheaper, locally refined alternatives are available, noting that public cooperation is essential for the price intervention to succeed.
