OGUN, Nigeria – Dangote Industries Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) worth more than $800 million with Sinoma International Engineering Co., Ltd. to expand the Dangote Cement Plant in Itori, Ogun State, increasing its annual production capacity from six million to 12 million metric tonnes.
Okay News reports that the agreement was signed by Aliko Dangote, President and Chief Executive of the Dangote Group, and Lin Zhong, Chairman of Sinoma. The expansion is expected to strengthen Dangote Cement’s ability to meet rising local demand while boosting exports to markets across Africa.
Dangote said the project supports the company’s Vision 2030 target of producing between 90 million and 100 million metric tonnes of cement annually. He added that the investment was encouraged by the Federal Government’s renewed focus on using concrete for road construction and thanked President Bola Tinubu for policies aimed at improving the business environment.
According to Dangote, the expanded Itori facility will increase foreign exchange earnings, create new jobs and reinforce Nigeria’s position as one of Africa’s leading cement producers. He described the project as another demonstration of the company’s confidence in the Nigerian economy and its long-term commitment to industrial development.
Lin Zhong said Sinoma would deploy its engineering expertise and advanced technology to deliver the project, describing the agreement as another milestone in the long-standing partnership between the two companies. He noted that the expansion would enhance Dangote Cement’s competitiveness while supporting sustainable industrial growth across Africa.
Upon completion, the upgraded Itori plant is expected to serve as a major production and export hub, supplying cement to both domestic and international markets and supporting Nigeria’s ambition to become a leading manufacturing centre on the continent.
