SOKOTO, Nigeria – Human rights lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju has announced a series of educational support initiatives for students of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS) Faculty of Law after presiding over the institution’s final-year moot court competition.
Okay News reports that Adeyanju pledged to provide annual internship opportunities for two to three law students from the faculty. He also rewarded the five Best Counsel winners with ₦100,000 ($63) each, while the five runners-up received ₦50,000 ($31) each.
The legal practitioner further donated ₦1 million ($625) to the Law Students’ Association of Nigeria (LAWSAN), UDUS Chapter in support of the organisation of the Final Year Moot Court Competition. He also pledged to sponsor the Nigerian Law School tuition of the graduating student who finishes with the highest cumulative grade point average (CGPA).
The announcements were welcomed by students and faculty members, with the support expected to strengthen practical legal training, encourage academic excellence, and provide career development opportunities for aspiring lawyers at the university.
