Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has strongly condemned the unprovoked killing of officers and soldiers attached to the 63 Brigade at Okuama community, Ughelli South Local Government Area of the state.

Governor Oborevwori expressed his condolences to the military and the families of the deceased personnel, describing the attack as alien to the culture of Deltans. In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori emphasized that such violence contradicts the values of peace and security promoted by the state government.

He assured that the government would take all necessary measures to identify and prosecute those responsible for the attack, ensuring they face the full force of the law.

The governor reiterated Delta State’s commitment to the rule of law and human decency, emphasizing that such acts would not be tolerated. Meanwhile, soldiers, under the supervision of Major General Jamal Abdussalam, recovered the bodies of fourteen slain soldiers in Okuama community.

In response to the tragedy, Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, has ordered a probe into the killing of four senior officers and twelve soldiers, underscoring the seriousness with which the military is treating the incident.
