Asaba, Delta State, Nigeria – Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has held a meeting with the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Samuel Ogbuku, alongside senior officials of the commission and representatives of Chevron to discuss progress on the Omadino–Okerenkoko–Escravos Road and Bridges project.
Okay News reports that the meeting, which took place at the Government House in Asaba focused on advancing the long-planned 70-kilometre infrastructure project expected to include 29 bridges connecting several riverine communities.
Speaking during the engagement, Ogbuku emphasised the socio-economic importance of the project to communities in the Niger Delta, noting that improved road connectivity would stimulate economic growth and ease movement across the region.
Also speaking, Segun Kuteyi of Chevron said the company remains committed to supporting infrastructure development and community progress. Stakeholders at the meeting agreed to establish a joint technical committee to finalise cost estimates, validate the project designs and prepare for the commencement of construction.
Governor Oborevwori welcomed the renewed commitment from all parties and reaffirmed the state government’s support for the project. He said a state technical team would collaborate with the NDDC and Chevron to review designs, determine project costs, resolve right-of-way issues and ensure the project is executed by reputable contractors for lasting benefits to communities.
