Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has distributed 600 bags of 50kg rice to her constituents across all 57 wards of the five local governments in Kogi State, demonstrating her continued commitment to supporting the community despite her ongoing suspension from the Senate.

The initiative, which took place on Saturday, was launched from her residence in Okehi as part of a larger food relief effort aimed at assisting the people during the Easter season.

According to a statement from her Chief Press Secretary, Arogbonlo Israel, the Senator’s distribution targeted a wide range of beneficiaries, including market women, religious groups, vulnerable individuals, grassroots organizations, and loyal party members.

Despite the economic hardships facing the region, especially during the festive period, the Senator’s gesture has been met with overwhelming gratitude.

Hon. Abdulrahman Badamasiu, a former House of Representatives member, praised Akpoti-Uduaghan for her resilience, saying, “Despite her suspension, she still shows up. That’s not just politics, that’s love in action.” He also urged constituents to keep the Senator in their prayers, acknowledging her dedication during a time when many leaders would have distanced themselves from the community.

This is not the first time Akpoti-Uduaghan has extended such assistance. During Ramadan, she distributed 2,400 bags of grains and facilitated empowerment programs for her constituents, reaffirming her presence and leadership despite the challenges she faces in Abuja.

A local beneficiary, visibly moved by the gesture, held her rice bag with tears in her eyes, stating, “She may be suspended in Abuja, but she’s present in our hearts.”
