Diego Costa has been slammed with an eight-match ban for insulting referee, Gil Manzano.

The Spanish Football Federation on Thursday handed the suspension to the Atletico Madrid striker after directing a crude insult towards the referee.

Costa was sent off in the first half of Atletico’s 2-0 defeat to Barcelona for his actions.

Manzano also reported that Costa had “grabbed” him by the arms during the incident.
