The senator representing Kano Central and former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on Monday, warned the Senate President, Bukola Sarki, not to destroy the APC which so many have labored to build because of his ambition.

Kwankwaso spoke with newsmen in Abuja over last week’s controversy which produced Saraki as senate president against the party’s wishes, and a PDP senator, Ike Ekweremadu, emerged as deputy senate president.

He said that Saraki has destroyed party discipline due to his ambition and should be punished for it.

The former governor particularly lamented the fact that a PDP senator emerged as deputy senate president when Nigerians had clearly rejected the party. According to him, the position must be returned to All Progressives Congress, especially because for the 16 years that PDP ruled the country, at no time did the opposition get the benefit of having such a position.

Kwankwaso said that as the ex-governor who gave Pres. Buhari 1.9m votes from his state and 500,000votes from his senatorial district, he was qualified to run for the Senate Presidency but since the President came from his zone, they agreed to give the seat to another zone which was middle belt, but Saraki’s ambition disrupted the process.

Kwankwaso pointed out that “from the day President Buhari’s victory was announced, things have started changing in the country. The power situation is improving, shares in the market are going up, while the exchange rate is stabilising.”

Kwankwaso said things would have been put right by the party immediately after the official announcement of the results, but the leadership delayed and this was what Saraki capitalised on to do what he did.

On the way forward, he said if he were the party chairman, he would personally write to each APC Senator and House of Representative member to express his displeasure over the unfortunate incident.
