ABUJA, Nigeria. Nigeria’s Department of State Services arraigned former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai on Thursday, April 23, 2026, over allegations of unlawfully accessing a telephone conversation involving Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
Okay News reports that the Department of State Services presented an amended five-count charge against the former governor before a Federal High Court in Abuja.
El-Rufai, who previously served as Nigeria’s Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, faced the court as proceedings commenced on Thursday morning.
The prosecution informed the court during the session that the charges against the former minister had been increased from three to five counts.
Prior to the proceedings in Abuja, the former governor arrived at the Federal High Court in Kaduna on Tuesday morning under tight security for his arraignment.
