MultiChoice has announced the cancellation of six kids’ programmes with pro-gay themes following complaints by subscribers.

The programmes – Loud House, the Legend of Korra, Hey Arnold, Steven Universe, Adventure Time and Clarence- cut across three channels; Nickelodeon, Nicktoons and Cartoon Network.

The removal decision was disclosed by DStv Uganda communications manager, Tina Wamala.

She said the decision will affect all viewers subscribed to the satellite service across Africa.

The suspension follows a ban placed on the programmes by the Kenya Film Classification Board because they were deemed unfit for young viewers.

“Uganda falls under the same region as Kenya.

“Our channel, mainly Nickelodeon that you are alluding to, has acknowledged the complaints through out the continent and looked at the different options they can implore and decided to suspend the shows in question – not just in Kenya but throughout Africa,” she is quoted as saying.
