The people of Dunukofia Local Government Area in Anambra State have declared their full support for Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo ahead of the November 8, 2025, governorship election, pledging funds and solidarity to ensure his re-election.

Okay News reports that thousands of residents gathered at the Dunukofia Local Government headquarters in Ukpo on Friday to welcome Soludo, his wife Dr. Nonye Soludo, and the Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, during an endorsement rally that coincided with the community’s annual New Yam Festival, known as Iweife-Ubi.

The well-attended event featured traditional rulers, community leaders, members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), local government officials, support groups, and dignitaries from across the state.

Addressing the crowd, Governor Soludo expressed gratitude to the people of Dunukofia for their unwavering support since his 2021 election victory.

He said, “I appreciate the people of Dunukofia for the strong backing I received during my campaign. We won resoundingly in Dunukofia in 2021. I have been told we will win all the wards and polling units again, and we are confident of our electoral victory.”

Highlighting his administration’s achievements, Soludo said his government had made “substantial progress” in education, health, and infrastructure development.

He added, “There are massive improvements in the education sector. The public schools were in a deplorable state when we came. Today, it is no longer the case. We are building the foundation for a better Anambra.”

The governor also inaugurated the Dunukofia Legislative Building, describing it as a symbol of active local governance. He praised the people of the area for their contribution to the project and assured them that more developmental initiatives were underway.

“The local government system is working in Anambra State; it is the effectiveness of initiatives implemented under my leadership. What we have achieved within this first tenure is greater than what our predecessors achieved in eight years,” Soludo said.

He noted that over 8,115 teachers have been employed to strengthen public schools, while new hospitals have been built to improve healthcare delivery across the state.

In his remarks, the President-General of Ukpo, Cyril Ezewulu, reaffirmed that Dunukofia is fully behind Soludo’s second-term ambition. “Dunukofia LGA is for Soludo. His re-election is sacrosanct. Nobody in Dunukofia will vote for another political party except APGA,” Ezewulu said.

Similarly, the Chairman of Dunukofia LGA, Clement Ozumba, commended the governor’s contributions to the area, citing the construction of 10.2 and 3.1 kilometres of roads, as well as the establishment of “smart schools” like the Community Primary School, Umunachi.

Also speaking at the event, Prof. Offornze Amaucheazi (SAN), the Commissioner of Lands, and Mrs. Chinyere Obidi, who represented market women, praised Soludo’s achievements and urged residents to stand by him.

Mr. Joseph Okafor, representing beneficiaries of the One-Youth-Two-Skills programme, also commended the administration’s empowerment initiatives.

A highlight of the occasion was the conferment of the chieftaincy title of “Agubuzo Na Dunukofia” on Chief Jim Nwabueze, as well as the presentation of prizes to outstanding farmers in categories such as largest yam farm, biggest tuber, largest cassava farm, and largest poultry.

Winners of the farm competitions went home with ₦500,000 for first place, ₦300,000 for second place, and ₦200,000 for third place.

Other support groups also made cash and cheque donations to support Soludo’s re-election campaign, while community leaders commended the governor’s leadership style and commitment to Anambra’s growth.

The event ended with songs, dances, and a renewed pledge from the people of Dunukofia to deliver a landslide victory for APGA in the upcoming polls.
