Eden Hazard: Cristiano Ronaldo Not Bigger Player Than Me in Pure Football

By Yusuf Abubakar

Former Chelsea star Eden Hazard has stirred up debate with his recent comments, suggesting that Al-Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo is not a bigger player than him in terms of “pure football.”

In an interview with L’Equipe, Hazard emphasized his admiration for Lionel Messi, asserting that the Argentine remains the greatest footballer in history.

Hazard praised Messi’s unparalleled ball control and skill, labeling him as the pinnacle of individual excellence in football.

However, Hazard’s remarks took an unexpected turn when discussing Cristiano Ronaldo. While acknowledging Ronaldo’s stature as a global football icon, Hazard boldly stated, “Cristiano is a bigger player than me but, in terms of pure football, I honestly don’t think so.”

Hazard went on to mention Neymar as another player who could rival Ronaldo in terms of footballing ability, suggesting that he sees himself on par with the Portuguese superstar.

“Neymar, maybe. After that, he’s no better than me,” He concluded.

Hazard retired from professional football at the age of 32 last October.
