Philiph Shaibu, the Deputy Governor of Edo State has declared his governorship bid ahead of the 2024 gubernatorial race.

Okay.ng reports that this is coming amidst a political turmoil between Shaibu and the Governor, Godwin Obaseki.

Philip Shaibu announced his bid for the 2024 governorship election under the PDP in a pre-recorded speech.

Shaibu launched his campaign office in Benin City, expressing determination to elevate the South-South state.

Acknowledging the challenges, Shaibu affirmed his commitment to the state’s growth, amid past political rifts.

Hurdles await Shaibu as he seeks the PDP ticket and prepares to face other contenders in the September 2024 election.

Edo joins other states with off-cycle governorship polls due to legal disputes, setting the stage for a fiercely contested race.
