Benin, Edo State, Nigeria – The Nigeria Police Force, Edo State Police Command, says it has launched an investigation into a viral video showing a bullying incident involving a student of Igbinedion Secondary School.
Okay News reports that the disturbing video circulating on social media shows a schoolboy being bullied by fellow students within the school premises.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Monday Agbonika, has directed the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the area to visit the school and begin a detailed inquiry into the matter.
According to the police, the management of Igbinedion Secondary School stated that the students involved in the bullying had already been expelled from the institution as part of disciplinary measures.
Despite the action taken by the school authorities, the police command said it has commenced a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
The command assured the public that those responsible for the act will be arrested and made to face the law in accordance with their respective ages and the provisions of the law.
The Edo State Police Command also condemned all forms of bullying, violence and intimidation among students, warning that anyone found culpable will be dealt with accordingly.
Police further urged members of the public to remain calm and provide credible information that could assist ongoing investigations.
