The chief of staff to the Adamawa governor, Muhammadu Jibrilla has been arrested by the operatives of the The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

AbdurRahman Jimeta was detained on Sunday by EFCC operatives who stormed Yola, the Adamawa State capital.

Mr. Jimeta also served as chief of staff former Governor Murtala Nyako, whose property along Karewa road, opposite Bekaji Housing Estate in Yola, were sealed off by the EFCC.

It was unclear why Mr. Jimeta was arrested.

EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, could not be reached immediately.

His arrest was linked to a N2.88 billion project for the renovation of Yola Hotel which was repeatedly reviewed upwards, a source said.
