ABUJA, Nigeria — Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has called on officers of the anti-corruption agency to uphold integrity, professionalism and transparency as the Commission intensifies efforts to strengthen its public image and institutional credibility.
Okay News reports that Olukoyede delivered the charge on Saturday at the closing ceremony of the Strategic Leadership Course One for senior officers at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja. Speaking on the theme, “Institutional Branding and Behavioural Impact,” he stressed that public confidence in the Commission is largely shaped by the conduct of its personnel, noting that every officer serves as a representative of the agency’s values both on and off duty. He urged participants to carry out their responsibilities with fairness, accountability and professionalism while pursuing financial crimes without fear, favour or compromise, irrespective of the status of those involved.
The EFCC chairman explained that genuine institutional rebranding goes beyond logos and publicity campaigns, insisting that it requires positive behavioural change, ethical conduct and a commitment to excellence from all staff members. He encouraged officers to strengthen their leadership abilities through continuous learning, crisis management and human capital development, while also embracing innovation and emerging technologies. According to him, the fight against economic and financial crimes increasingly depends on advanced technological capabilities, making it necessary for the Commission to adopt global best practices and study the operational models of leading law enforcement agencies such as the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency (NCA).
