EFCC Grills Former Kwara Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed Over Billions”

By Adamu Abubakar Isa

Abdulfatah Ahmed, former Governor of Kwara State, is currently being interrogated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) regarding transactions amounting to billions of naira during his tenure.

Ahmed was spotted arriving at the EFCC office in Ilorin on Monday morning, following an invitation from the anti-graft agency. He is presently providing responses concerning the expenditure of funds during his administration.

Serving as governor from May 2011 to May 2019, Ahmed succeeded by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, faces inquiries over alleged financial mismanagement during his tenure.

This is not the first time Ahmed has faced such scrutiny. In May 2021, he was questioned by EFCC operatives in Abuja regarding the alleged diversion of approximately N9 billion from Kwara State Government funds.

The diversion is purported to have occurred during his governorship and his tenure as Commissioner for Finance under the administration of ex-Governor Bukola Saraki.
