The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has initiated a search operation at the Head Office of the Dangote Group of Companies situated in Lagos State.

Okay.ng gathered that the operation commenced at approximately 3 p.m. on Thursday.

According to information gathered by our correspondent, the EFCC’s search at the company’s Lagos head office remains ongoing, with the nature and scope of the investigation yet to be disclosed officially.

Speaking anonymously, a source divulged that the EFCC’s probe centers on the foreign exchange allocations extended to approximately 52 companies, including Dangote Plc, during the tenure of former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.

“The commission (EFCC) is investigating Dangote Plc and about 51 other significant companies. It has come to light that these allocations were executed without the approval of former President Muhammadu Buhari,” the undisclosed source claimed.

The specifics and details regarding the investigation, including the allocation procedures, the period under scrutiny, and the exact nature of the alleged unauthorized transactions, remain undisclosed as the EFCC’s operation continues at the Dangote Group’s headquarters.
