Maiduguri, Nigeria – The Borno State Police Command has announced strict security measures ahead of the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, including a temporary restriction on the movement of tricycles, popularly known as Keke Napep, across the state.

Okay News reports that the Command disclosed that Keke operations will be restricted between 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on March 20, 2026, as part of efforts to strengthen security coordination, manage crowds effectively, and prevent potential threats during the festive period.

According to the statement issued on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Naziru Abdulmajid, a robust security architecture has been put in place, including the deployment of personnel to Eid prayer grounds, markets, motor parks, and other vulnerable locations. The Command also revealed that its Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit will conduct thorough screening at major gathering points to ensure public safety.

Residents were advised to observe prayers at locations closest to their homes to reduce congestion, remain vigilant, and report any suspicious activity. The police further assured the public of their commitment to maintaining peace and security before, during, and after the Eid celebrations, urging full compliance with all directives.
