El-Rufai’s Son Speaks on Father’s Detention, Says DSS Should Fear Public Reaction, Not His Family

By Adamu Abubakar Isa

Abuja, NIGERIA – Mohammed Bello El-Rufai has reacted defiantly to the detention of his father, former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, saying his family has no fear over the situation.

Speaking after a court granted the former governor bail, Bello El-Rufai said the Department of State Services (DSS) should be more concerned than the family itself.

“I don’t fear. Mallam has his bail conditions set, he’s in good health, so I don’t know what this whole fear thing is about,” he said.

Okay News reports that the Kaduna lawmaker also challenged anyone expecting harm to come to his father, insisting the family remains confident in the legal process.

Nasir El-Rufai was recently granted ₦100 million bail following his detention by the DSS, a development that has continued to generate political reactions across Nigeria.

Bello El-Rufai said his father had fulfilled all bail requirements and dismissed concerns surrounding his safety and health while in custody.

He added that Nigeria’s political climate had changed, suggesting that public institutions would now face greater scrutiny over controversial actions.
