A credible source has confirmed that detained leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), Sheikh Ibrahim El- Zakzaky is “alive, hale and hearty”, PRNigeria reports.
This followed reports and rumours of El-Zakzaky’s health deteriorating due to his continued detention.
According to the source, the rumour is unfounded and just the machinations f charactrs who want to birth chaos in the polity.
He said: “We have discovered that the death rumour is the handiwork of mischief makers, who want to create tension and cause chaos within the polity.
“Those behind the false new are taking advantage of the period of Ramadan to curry unnecessary sympathy.”
He said the state of El-Zakzaky’s health has been confirmed by officials of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), top Islamic leaders and family members who have, at different times, visited the imprisoned Shiites leader.
Sheikh Zakzaky has been in the custody of the DSS since his arrest by Nigerian soldiers on December 14, 2015.
