Voter services, without the guesswork.
Find the right path for registration, voter-status checks, PVC collection and polling-unit confirmation in Nigeria.
Start here
Check the current service before you apply.
INEC opens and closes registration exercises. An old deadline or an accessible form is not proof that a service is taking applications now. Check the official portal for current availability and follow the instructions shown for your request.
Okay News explains the process. We do not register voters or collect names, dates of birth, voter identification numbers or biometrics on this page.
01 · Registration and changes
Choose the request that matches your record.
First-time registration is for an eligible Nigerian citizen aged 18 or older who has not registered before. The online process and any biometric or in-person step depend on INEC’s current instructions. A pre-registration or saved draft is not, on its own, proof that registration is complete.
If you have registered already, verify the existing record first. Moving home, changing a name or losing a card calls for a transfer, correction or replacement request, not a second first-time registration.
- Check whether the service is open for your state and election.
- Keep the reference and next-step instructions from any application.
- Verify the resulting record before relying on a requested change.
02 · Voter record
Check your registration status.
INEC’s voter-verification service offers a check using your personal details or voter identification number. Enter that information only on the official INEC service. Compare the returned state, local government area and polling-unit details with your own record.
If a search fails or the details differ, review spelling and the selected location before trying again. A failed lookup alone does not prove that your registration has been removed. Use INEC’s help or state office to resolve an unresolved mismatch.
03 · Permanent Voter Card
Check where to collect your PVC.
Being registered and having a card ready for collection are separate stages. Use INEC’s portal to check your PVC status and collection centre. Confirm the current collection arrangements before travelling; a centre listed in an older notice may no longer be the right one.
If your card was lost or damaged, choose the replacement service for an existing voter. Keep your request details private and follow INEC’s instructions for any further step and collection.
04 · Where to vote
Confirm your assigned polling unit.
Use your voter record to identify your assigned unit, then check INEC’s polling-unit directory for its code and location. Compare the full state, LGA, ward and unit sequence. Similar place names or a nearby unit do not establish that you are registered to vote there.
If you requested a transfer, confirm that your assignment changed before planning the journey. Save the unit code and directions privately. Our race finder can help you explore contests, but it does not verify your voter registration or unit assignment.
Common questions
Before you leave this page
Can I register to vote on Okay News?
No. Registration and changes to voter records are handled by INEC. We explain the steps and link to the official service.
Does a submitted application mean my PVC is ready?
No. Submission, processing and card collection are separate. Check the status and collection instructions on INEC’s portal.
Can a nearby polling unit replace the one on my record?
No. Check the assignment attached to your voter record. A location search helps you find a unit; it does not transfer your registration.
