Former Adamawa North senator, Elisha Abbo, has attributed his removal from the Senate to Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

The Court of Appeal in Abuja recently nullified Abbo’s election victory, upholding the petition of Amos Yohanna of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a ruling on Monday, the Court of Appeal voided Abbo’s election victory and ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue a Certificate of Return to Yohanna.

The decision was made on the grounds of electoral discrepancies and non-compliance with the Electoral Act, 2022.

Speaking out on the matter, Abbo alleged that he and four other senators within the All Progressives Congress (APC) were targeted for removal due to their opposition to Akpabio’s bid for the Senate presidency.

While not disclosing the names of the other senators, Abbo specifically mentioned Senator Orji Uzor Kalu of Abia North as the next target for removal.

“I have it from a reliable source that myself and four other senators within the fold of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will be removed from the Senate through rulings from the courts, all because of working against the emergence of Akpabio as President of the 10th Senate,” Abbo stated in an interview.

“I won’t mention the names of all the four other ones targeted but the next in line is Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.”

Expressing his discontent with the court’s decision, Abbo questioned the overturning of his victory despite a significant margin of over 11,000 votes.

He urged the judiciary to remain the last hope for the common citizen and appealed to his supporters to remain calm, vowing to contest again in 2027.
