Awgu, NIGERIA — The people of the Enugu West Senatorial District have officially endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Peter Mbah for a second term in office, citing impactful projects and policies across the state and nation.
During a rally at the Awgu Local Government Secretariat field on Saturday, April 18, 2026, thousands of supporters gathered to affirm their support for the current leadership.
Okay News gaghered that the district presented a N100 million cheque to Governor Mbah for the purchase of his second-term nomination form, pledging to defend their endorsement at the polls.
Senator Osita Ngwu, representing Enugu West, stated that the decision was based on “evident results,” highlighting the establishment of Smart Schools in every ward, Type-2 Healthcare Centres, and significant road improvements like the 9th Mile to Aguobu Owa route. At the national level, Governor Mbah praised President Tinubu for stabilizing macro indicators, growing foreign reserves above $50 billion, and ensuring local governments have sufficient funds for massive projects.
Former Senate President Ken Nnamani warned the crowd against aspirants promising only a single term, describing such claims as a “scam” and urging voters to stick with proven integrity and performance. Senator Nnamani further noted that supporting Mbah’s re-election is the most strategic path to ensuring Enugu West’s turn for the governorship in 2031.
The motion for the endorsements was supported by high-ranking dignitaries, including former Chief of Naval Staff Rear Admiral Allison Madueke (rtd.) and APC Deputy National Chairman (South) Dr. Ben Nwoye. Governor Mbah, in his address, thanked the people for being “standard bearers for equity, justice, and fairness” and promised to continue delivering the dividends of democracy.
The Enugu State Government confirmed the endorsement details in an official statement released on Sunday, April 19, 2026.
