The Kano State Government has filed new charges against former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, his Commissioner for Local Government Murtala Garo, and two others, alleging a massive ₦57.4 billion fraud.

The charge sheet accuses the defendants of criminal conspiracy, breach of trust, and misappropriation, claiming they diverted funds meant for local government areas into personal accounts and used them to acquire luxurious properties locally and internationally.

The prosecution has listed 143 witnesses, including local government cashiers, foreign currency exchange operators, and former bank employees, to testify against the defendants.

The case, filed under the Kano State Administration of Criminal Justice Law (2019), has the potential to set a precedent for the prosecution of high-ranking officials involved in financial crimes.
