ABUJA, Nigeria — The cost of collecting federal revenue rose to N81.084 billion (approximately $54.06 million) in March 2026, a 4.89 percent increase from the N77.302 billion recorded in February, according to the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) .
Okay News reports that the figures were contained in a communiqué issued after FAAC’s April meeting, where a total of N2.036 trillion (approximately $1.36 billion) was shared among the Federal Government, States, and Local Government Councils.
Gross revenue for the month stood at N2.364 trillion (approximately $1.58 billion), up 6.01 percent from N2.230 trillion in February. Despite the rise in absolute collection costs, the cost‑to‑revenue ratio remained nearly flat, edging down to 3.43 percent from 3.47 percent, an improvement of 0.04 percentage points.
Statutory revenue recorded the strongest growth, climbing 8.83 percent to N1.699 trillion from N1.561 trillion in February. However, Value Added Tax (VAT) collections dipped 0.60 percent to N664.425 billion from N668.450 billion.
The Federal Government received N789.159 billion, a 16.90 percent jump from N675.088 billion in February. State governments were allocated N657.596 billion (up 0.93 percent), while local government councils got N468.826 billion (up 2.71 percent).
Derivation revenue for oil‑producing states grew 8.84 percent to N120.759 billion from N110.949 billion in February.
