A tragic incident occurred in the Ogudu area of Lagos on Friday when a fully loaded 40ft Mack articulated truck fell on a Nissan car, resulting in the instant death of a woman who was inside the vehicle.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) reported that the fatal accident occurred when the woman was sitting inside the Nissan car, bearing registration number ABJ 692 BG. The impact of the falling container led to her immediate demise, while miraculously, the car driver escaped unhurt.

Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department at LASTMA, Adebayo Taofiq, disclosed in a statement that the truck, which was fully loaded, fell on the car in the vicinity of N.N.P.C inward Estate, Alapere, Lagos.

Despite efforts to apprehend them, the truck driver and his motor-boy fled the scene immediately after the incident.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the tragedy was caused by the driver’s loss of control due to brake failure while the truck was on high speed. The collision occurred with a moving Nissan car along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, resulting in the fatal outcome.

Lastma Alabi Olukayode, from Zone 2, Ogudu/Alapere, confirmed that LASTMA handed over the deceased woman’s body to policemen from Alapere Police Station.

The response to the accident involved efforts from LASTMA officers, other first responders, and passers-by, who collaborated in the rescue operations.
