Farmers in Ganaru community, Zugurma district of Mashegu Local Government Area in Niger State, discovered three suspected explosive devices planted by terrorists while heading to their farms on Tuesday.
Okay News reports that the farmers spotted the devices along the roadside during their routine activities and immediately raised an alarm.
Mashegu Local Government Chairman Jibrin Egade confirmed the incident, expressing shock that such dangerous explosives appeared in a community previously free of security threats.
He stated that the area has been cordoned off to prevent any explosion and potential casualties.
Egade promptly informed security agencies, who responded swiftly.

Niger State Commissioner of Police CP Adamu Elleman verified the discovery but clarified that only one explosive device was found, contrary to villagers’ reports of three.
He assured residents that bomb disposal experts have been deployed to safely handle and possibly detonate the device.
The CP urged the public to continue their legitimate activities without fear, emphasising that normalcy has been restored.
Chairman Egade echoed this, confirming the community is now safe following security intervention.
The incident follows a deadly terrorist attack just two days earlier in Borgu Local Government Area, where 42 people were killed.
These events highlight ongoing security challenges in parts of Niger State despite efforts to maintain peace in rural communities.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation and urge vigilance among residents.
