Acting President Yemi Osinbajo and members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday observed a one-minute hush in honour of the late elder statesman, Maitama Sule.

The elder statesman died on Monday at a hospital in Egypt while undergoing treatment for an illness. He was buried on Tuesday in Kano state.

Thousands of Kano residents, political leaders and top government functionaries attended the burial prayers held at the Emir of Kano’s Palace.

During Wednesday’s FEC meeting, the acting president restated the message of unity and indivisibility of Africa’s most populated nation which he said the late Sule relentlessly preached.

Osinbajo also described the former minister in the first republic as a committed nationalist whose interventions significantly aided Nigeria’s unity.
