The 11th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), held on May 10, 2025, proved a landmark evening for Nollywood as Femi Adebayo’s film Seven Doors swept two of the most prestigious acting awards.

Femi Adebayo himself was named Best Lead Actor, while Chioma Chukwuka won Best Lead Actress for her role in the same film, an award received on her behalf by Adebayo. This double triumph solidifies Seven Doors as one of the year’s standout productions.

The ceremony also paid tribute to industry veterans Sani Mu’azu and Nkem Owoh, who were honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards, recognizing their enduring contributions to African cinema. Meanwhile, director Kayode Kasum was celebrated with the Trailblazer Award for his innovative and genre-defying work that continues to reshape Nollywood.

In addition to these top honors, the evening highlighted other notable winners. Lateef Adedimeji’s Lisabi: The Uprising garnered multiple awards, including Best Makeup and Best Indigenous Language (West Africa), underscoring its critical acclaim. The event showcased a broad spectrum of talent across acting, directing, technical crafts, and digital content creation, reflecting the vibrant creativity within African film and television.

The full list of winners includes Gabriel Afolayan as Best Supporting Actor for Inside Life, Mercy Aigbe as Best Supporting Actress for Farmer’s Bride, and Tolu Obanro for Best Score/Music on Seven Doors. The Best Scripted M-Net Original was awarded to My Fairytale Wedding by Chinenye Nworah and Taiwo Adebayo, while Nigerian Idol took home Best Unscripted M-Net Original.

As Africa’s premier platform for celebrating cinematic excellence, the AMVCA continues to elevate the continent’s storytellers and industry professionals, with the 11th edition marking another milestone in Nollywood’s global rise.
