Former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode has described President Muhammadu Buhari’s use of Hausa language during his visit to Dapchi in Yobe state as discriminatory.

Buhari had on Wednesday visited Dapchi were over 90 students were abducted by suspected Boko Haram insurgents.

During the visit, Buhari had addressed the students in their local language Hausa.

However, Fani-Kayode noted that such move alienated those who don’t understand the language, especially in the southern part of the country.

He said this in a series of tweets on Sunday where he alleged that the development confirms the president’s discriminatory stance on some sections in the country.

“…Buhari’s Dapchi visit was televised nationally and internationally. He blacked out the southern half of Nigeria and the int. community. This brazen discrimination that has permeated every facet of his government is SHOCKING but not surprising!” he tweeted.

“Pres. Buhari went to Dapchi the other day and spoke Hausa to students who are supposed to study the english language and take english as a compulsory subject in WAEC. There is something not right about the Pres. addressing those students in Hausa…1/2.”
