The building of the Kishi-Kaiama Road in the state has received approval from the federal government, according to the Kwara Government on Monday.
Okay.ng sourced that the financial approval was cited as the reason the state government halted construction on the road in a statement from Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara Governor.
The Federal Ministry of Works has advised us to suspend construction on the road because they have received new approval from the Federal Government and the contract for the road has been reissued at a price of N27 billion.
Due of the extent of farm produce trade, he claimed, the Kishi-Kaiama route is crucial for the entire nation.
“It is a federal road, and the contract was first awarded more than ten years ago. However, nothing was taking place. The Federal Ministry of Works has now requested that we end the contract and evacuate the road since when we arrived, we attempted to complete the job.
According to the ministry, the state’s previous administration awarded the contract to a business that didn’t match the conditions.
We got rid of them and delivered the property to the firm that placed second in the competition, mobilizing it with up to N600m.
The Kishi-Kaiama Road project has been put on hold because of the FG’s desire to re-award the contract and its request that our contractor leave the job site, Gov. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq quoted.
The governor reportedly stated that construction on the Bode-Saadu-Kaiama-Kosubosu Road will start the next year and that it will be paid for in part by a BUA Group tax.
We are attempting to build the Bode-Saadu-Kaiama-Kosubosu Road in conjunction with BUA Group using the road tax infrastructure scheme.
Hopefully, construction on that route will start in the first quarter of 2023.
The road will be financed in part by taxes that BUA Group will pay to the federal government.
