Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says the Federal Government is considering dredging the River Benue to put an end to flooding in Benue state.

The state has been ravaged by flood, displacing over 100 thousand people and destroying property worth billions of naira across the state.

After criticism from the media over the failure of the president or his vice to visit the victims of the flood days after the disaster, the vice president flew to the state on Wednesday.

And speaking at the Makurdi International Market where the internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) were being camped, Osinbajo noted that President Muhammadu Buhari was very concerned about the flood and seeking ways to stop it once and for all.

”We are here on behalf of the President who has been very concerned about the flood and how to stop it once and for all and that is why he is seeking for realistic solutions,” he said.

While commending the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for putting in place befitting medical services at the IDP camp to cater for the medical needs of the flood victims, Osinbajo assured those who were affected by the flood of adequate attention by government.
