FG files fraud, treason charges against Sowore

The federal government of Nigeria has filed a seven-count charge of fraud and treasonable felony against Omoyele Sowore, co-convener of #RevolutionNow.

Sowore, who has spent over 50 days in the custody of the DSS since his arrested on August 2.

The DSS accused Sowore of attempting to overthrow the government of President Muhammadu Buhari using the #RevolutionNow protest.

The government filed charges accusing Sowore of making several transfers of $16,975 and $20,475 from his domiciliary account with the United Bank for Africa with the intention to conceal the origin of the money.

Sowore who was charged alongside another defendant, Olawole Bakare, was also accused of treason for his involvement in organizing the #RevolutionNow protest.

The Sahara Reporter publisher was charged alongside Olawale Bakare popularly known as Mandate.
