The Federal Government has officially removed universities and other state-owned tertiary institutions from the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS).

The decision was confirmed by the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF), marking a significant shift in the payroll management of these institutions.

The announcement, made by Bawa Mokwa, Director of Press and Public Relations at the OAGF, follows a directive from the Nigerian government to exclude these institutions from the IPPIS platform.

Mokwa explained that the shutdown of the IPPIS for federal tertiary institutions (FTIs) aligns with the government’s recent decision to transition these institutions to an alternative system.

“It was only natural for the IPPIS platform for FTIs to be shut down, given the Federal Government’s directive to remove these institutions from the system,” Mokwa stated.

Mokwa further revealed that salaries for November will now be processed using the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS).

In line with the new procedures, federal institutions have been instructed to prepare their payrolls in Excel format and submit them to IPPIS for verification.
