The Federal Government has assured Nigerians that it is taking urgent action to rescue the female students abducted from Government Girls Secondary School, Maga, in the Danko/Wasagu area of Kebbi State.
In a statement on Monday, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, said the government shares in the pain of the families affected and remains fully committed to bringing the girls home safely.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he noted, has reaffirmed that protecting every Nigerian—especially schoolchildren—remains a core duty of the State. He condemned the attack on the school and the killing of officials who were performing their duties.
Idris said security and intelligence agencies have been directed to locate, rescue, and ensure the safe return of the students, stressing that the perpetrators will be brought to justice. He added that the government “will not relent” until the mission is completed.
According to the minister, the Federal Government is intensifying efforts to strengthen internal security by upgrading military, police, and intelligence operations to better prevent and respond to threats across the country.
He further disclosed that Nigeria is deepening cooperation with regional partners—including ECOWAS, the African Union, and the Multinational Joint Task Force—to secure its borders and disrupt terrorist and criminal networks.
The government urged Nigerians to remain calm and confident as efforts continue toward the safe recovery of the abducted schoolgirls.
