Nnamdi Okonkwo, the Managing Director of Fidelity Bank PLC, has been rearrested over the $153 million purportedly laundered through the bank by former Nigerian oil minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

Okonkwo was initally arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in April 2016 but was released after being comprehensively quizzed.

He was alleged to have overseen the disbursement of $153 million to election officials in the 36 states of the country.

Okonkwo and another top management official of Fidelity Bank were arrested and detained at the Lagos offices of the EFCC following fresh revelations that Diezani laundered the money through the bank – specifically for rigging the 2015 elections in favour of former president, Goodluck Jonathan.
