Football’s biggest individual prizes were handed out on Tuesday night as FIFA hosted its 2025 awards ceremony in Doha, Qatar.

Okay News reports that Ousmane Dembélé emerged as the headline winner after being named FIFA Men’s Player of the Year, completing a remarkable season that also saw him collect the Ballon d’Or.

The France international played a decisive role in Paris Saint-Germain’s treble-winning run, including their long-awaited Champions League win. Dembélé finished ahead of Barcelona teenager Lamine Yamal and Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé following a global vote involving national team captains, coaches, journalists and fans.

In the women’s category, Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonmatí continued her grip on the award, claiming the FIFA Women’s Player of the Year title for the third consecutive time.

Her consistency at club and international level once again set her apart from a strong field that included fellow Spain internationals Mariona Caldentey and Alexia Putellas.

The Best Men’s XI reflected PSG’s influence on the season, with Gianluigi Donnarumma selected in goal after also winning the Men’s Goalkeeper award. He was joined in defence by Achraf Hakimi, William Pacho, Virgil van Dijk and Nuno Mendes, while the midfield featured Jude Bellingham, Cole Palmer, Vitinha and Pedri. Dembélé and Yamal completed the attacking line.

On the women’s side, England’s Hannah Hampton claimed the Best Women’s Goalkeeper prize following a standout year with Chelsea and her key role in England’s European Championship success.

Coaching honours went to Paris Saint-Germain’s Luis Enrique in the men’s category, while Sarina Wiegman was recognised as the top women’s coach.

The ceremony also celebrated moments of brilliance and sportsmanship. Argentina’s Santiago Montiel won the Puskás Award for an acrobatic overhead kick in domestic league action, while Mexico’s Lizbeth Ovalle claimed the Marta Award for an inventive scorpion-style finish in Liga MX Femenil.

The FIFA Fair Play Award was presented to Dr Andreas Harlass-Neuking for his life-saving intervention during a second-division match in Germany, and the FIFA Fan Award went to Zakho SC supporters for a charitable pre-match gesture that saw thousands of toys donated to sick children.
