Fin. Minister ‘Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala’ Awarded Honorary Doctorate Degree By Yale University

Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has been awarded a honorary doctorate degree by Yale University.

Okonjo-Iweala was awarded a Doctor of Humane Letters at Yale’s 2015 Commencement Ceremony in New Haven, Connecticut  on Monday.

Giving out the award, the President of the University Professor Peter Salovey described Okonjo-Iweala as “a brilliant reformer and dedicated public servant.”

Yale’s honorary doctorate degree is seen globally as a very important honour, and Okonjo-Iweala’s the second Nigerian to ever be awarded the prestigious honour, with the first being Professor Wole Soyinka in 1980.
