Abuja, Nigeria — Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has paid a heartfelt tribute to her husband, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as he marked his 74th birthday on Sunday, March 29, 2026, choosing a quiet observance in light of national challenges.

“I love you and I am so proud of you,” the First Lady declared in her birthday message to the President, highlighting her admiration for his leadership at a time when Nigeria continues to face economic and social pressures.

Okay News reports that President Tinubu opted for a low-key celebration, noting that the prevailing national mood required reflection rather than festivity. In a message to citizens, the President acknowledged the impact of policy reforms introduced by his administration and the difficulties many Nigerians have endured since their implementation.

The President said that despite challenges, including external pressures such as tensions in the Middle East that have affected global markets, there were emerging signs of improvement in Nigeria’s economy. He stated that the sacrifices made by citizens were beginning to show results and described the situation as having “a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.”

“As I mark this special day, I am reminded of the challenges we’ve faced since we initiated our reforms,” he said while thanking Nigerians for their goodwill, prayers, and continued support.

President Tinubu also expressed appreciation to Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, for his birthday message and ongoing support. In his goodwill message, Shettima said the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda was placing Nigeria on a path toward sustainable growth, citing improvements in economic performance and infrastructure development.

The Vice President described the President’s leadership as focused on reforms and aimed at building a strong foundation for long-term prosperity. He added that ongoing policy measures were designed to stabilise the economy and enhance development across sectors.

The President used the occasion to renew his call for unity, urging Nigerians to continue working together to overcome present challenges and build a stronger and more prosperous nation.
