FirstBank, West Africa’s premier financial institution, is set to commence construction of its new 40-story green-certified Head Office Building in Eko Atlantic City, Lagos.

The groundbreaking ceremony, scheduled to take place soon, will mark the beginning of an ambitious project that is expected to become Nigeria’s tallest building and a benchmark for sustainable banking infrastructure in Africa.

Designed with eco-friendly and technologically advanced features, the iconic skyscraper will reinforce FirstBank’s commitment to innovation, excellence, and customer-centric financial services. The structure will set new industry standards by integrating green-certified technology to reduce operational costs and promote sustainable business practices.

Speaking on the upcoming project, Olusegun Alebiosu, CEO of FirstBank Group, highlighted the bank’s commitment to driving economic growth and sustainable development across Africa.

“We are proud to mark this significant milestone in our journey towards excellence. Our new Head Office is envisioned as a world-class structure that represents our dedication to innovation, customer satisfaction, and sustainability. We believe that this development will play a crucial role in fostering economic growth and development across Africa, creating long-term value for all our stakeholders,” Alebiosu stated.

With a legacy spanning over 130 years, FirstBank has remained at the forefront of banking innovation, financial inclusion, and international expansion, operating subsidiaries across nine countries on three continents.

Femi Otedola, Chairman of FirstHoldCo, expressed gratitude to customers and stakeholders for their continuous support in bringing the vision to life.

“Today’s gathering highlights the importance of collaboration and support from various sectors in bringing our ambitious plans for the new headquarters to life. We appreciate the unrelenting support from our customers and stakeholders as we work together to turn this vision into reality,” he said.
