Some gestures carry weight beyond their size. A visit. A kind word. The simple act of showing up for someone who has been forgotten by the world outside.
That is exactly what the FirstBank Women Network did this International Women’s Day.
As part of the IWD 2026 celebrations, the Network visited the correctional centres across Nigeria bringing warmth, support, and a powerful reminder to the women and girls there that they are seen and valued. The initiative was built around the IWD 2026 theme, “Give to Gain,” and aligned with FirstBank’s SPARK programme, a platform dedicated to championing kindness and charitable action for underprivileged individuals.

In Lagos, the Network visited the Kirikiri Female Correctional Centre and the Special Correctional Centre for Girls, Idi-Araba, where it organized mentorship sessions and shared support materials to aid the inmates.
It is one thing to celebrate women in conference rooms. It is another to walk into a correctional facility and choose to celebrate them there too. That distinction speaks volumes about who the FirstBank Women Network is and what it stands for.
By reaching into communities that rarely receive this kind of attention, FirstBank is proving that its commitment to women is not seasonal. It is structural, consistent, and deeply human.
When women lead with generosity, the impact is felt far beyond the moment. And on this International Women’s Day, the FirstBank Women Network made sure that impact reached the people who needed it most.
