Shehu-Sani-1-1-1-1

Senator representing Kaduna Central on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, Shehu Sani, has expressed fears that the ongoing hardship Nigerian citizens were facing as a result of recession might result in revolution against the government.

To avert such development, Sani advised that the issue be well handled by those in positions of authority, especially the Federal Government, warning that violation of the advice could result in unpredictable circumstances.

He said the revolution would not only be against the current administration, but also those who held sway in the past. Sani, who spoke in Abuja, weekend, to mark the country’s 56th Independence anniversary, said the recession might end up being the ignition Nigerians had been waiting for over the years to fight their leaders.

He noted that bad governance had cost the country over $3 trillion oil monies in frivolities within the last 56 years by successive governments.

According to him, one of the ways of fighting the recession is for the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration to enlarge the scope of its anti-corruption war beyond Jonathan’s administration to others before it, with the sole purpose of recovering the nation’s monies and resources stolen by corrupt-minded past administrators.

He said: “We are in recession, but the recession must be tackled headlong by the Federal Government and all stakeholders in the polity towards getting out of it very quickly or else, it may lead to revolution. “The 2015 election supposed to have ushered us into a new hope of unity and progress.

But there are a lot of mistakes that have been made in the last one year.

“One of the corrections is the need for us to look forward in terms of bringing our people to the Promised Land and not look backward on crises we faced in the past.”
