Saraki-Ekwe

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted bail to the Senate President Bukola Saraki and his deputy, Senator Ike Ekweremadu over charges of criminal conspiracy and alleged forgery of the Nigerian Senate Standing Rules, 2015.

Both Saraki and Ekweremadu appeared before Justice Halilu Yusuf on Monday along with a former clerk of the National Assembly, Alhaji Salisu Abubakar Maikasuwa and his deputy, Mr. Benedict Efeturi.

Justice Yusuf Halilu ordered the accused to produce two reasonable sureties who must own properties in Asokoro, Wuse II or Garki areas of Abuja.

The judge said that the accused would be remanded in Kuje Prison, if they fail to meet the bail conditions.

The trial proper would commence on July 11.
