Ex-Chelsea doctor Eva Carneiro, who was publicly involved in a spat with the now sacked Jose Mourinho, has professionally disengaged from the world of football.

Carneiro – who remains locked in an employment tribunal with the Stamford Bridge outfit following her departure in 2015 – is set to return to Gibraltar to take up a role at a medical clinic.

“As Sports Medicine and Exercise Medicine Consultant Doctor Eva specialises in the treatment of athletes and other physically active individuals. Sports and Exercise medicine physicians have extensive education in musculoskeletal medicine,” a post on the Gibraltar Specialist Medical Clinc said.

“She is able to treat injuries such as muscle, ligament, tendon and bone problems, but may also treat chronic illnesses that can affect physical performance, such as asthma and diabetes.

“Dr Carneiro will also advise on managing and preventing injuries, sports and exercise nutrition, supplementation and performance enhancement.”

Carneiro is still involved in an employment tribunal in Croydon having failed to reach an agreement with the Blues – or Mourinho – regarding personal damages.

The former club doctor is claiming constructive dismissal and sexual discrimination against the Premier League champions after she and physiotherapist Jon Fearn were criticised in a post-match interview for being “impulsive and naive” by Mourinho after they entered the pitch to treat Eden Hazard against Swansea.

Mourinho went on to say: “Whether you are a kit man, doctor or secretary, on the bench you have to understand the game.”

The incident left the Blues temporarily with only nine-men as they looked to hold out for a 2-2 draw following Thibaut Courtois’s earlier red card.

Carneiro, 42, is newly wed to her explorer husband Jason De Carteret who also joined her in Croydon as she attended a London South Employment Tribunal before a judge.

This case is set to continue as Jose Mourinho also looks for work since losing his job in December, with Manchester United reportedly his favoured destination.
